4/25/2009 Springfield Ladies Round Robin (North Shore, Burlington)

The beginning of a very hot day (up to 90 degrees) for rugby. Refereed 3 games this day:

11 AM, 60 minute game.

Springfield Women 8 - 22 North Shore Women

3 PM, 40 minute game

Springfield Women 5 - 31 Burlington Women

and Newport @ Springfield.

The reason I stopped playing and started refereeing:

While playing in Auckland, NZ for the College Rifles Under 21s, the thursday before our semifinal I was involved in a motorcycle accident. I wont go into the gory details, but I hurt my ankle really really bad (multiple fractures, dislocation 90 degrees). I've got 10 screws and big titanium plate in my ankle. Recovery has been slow, but I have got to the point that I can run on my ankle. In February, when I began running, I decided to contribute the best way I could to the rugby community, refereeing.

Turns out refereeing is physically and mentally challenging while also rewarding.
